This is a fun little game that I came up with called Battle of the Forest. To play you will need a normal, six-sided die (singular dice). You can play this game online in posting form or in person in verbal form with counters.
Please, use the honor system when you roll the die! Sure, since no one could prove otherwise it would be easy to cheat, but that would be a lot less fun!
Every player starts out with 30 health and one army member (a squirrel).
Your Turn:
On your turn, roll the die. If it is a 4 or up, you can add a member to your army or attack an enemy. If it is 3 or lower, you have to attack an enemy. If you roll a 6, you can sacrifice an army member to heal yourself (explained later) or any of the actions in the four and up section.
Army Members:
If you get to add a member to your army, roll the die again. A 1, 2, or 3 means a squirrel joins your army. 4 or 5 means a cat joins your army. 6 means a wolf joins your army.
Each type of army member does different amounts of damage. Squirrels do 1 damage each, cats do 2 damage each, and wolves do 3 damage each.
Attacking:
You can attack once each turn. You can split your attack into at most three different groups (headed towards three different opponents). They do not have to be even, but you cannot split individual attacking power (Example: If I have a cat, I can't sent one damage point to one enemy and one to the other. I have to attack one person with one army member). Your entire army attacks at once (in one post) even if it's towards different enemies.
If your attack did more than 5 damage total (towards the one enemy), there was one casualty on the opponent's army. 10 damage total and there were two casualties, ect. You chose who the casualty affected in the opponent's army. That army member is now dead and cannot return. (You cannot have less than one army member though)
Healing:
If you happen to roll a six, you have the option to heal yourself. First, sacrifice a member of your army. They are now dead and cannot return (you cannot sacrifice your last army member). Add two to their attack power, and that's how much you are healed by (Example: I sacrifice a wolf. 3+2=5 so I heal by 5 health points.)
Game Progress:
Much like a RP thread, people may join or leave at any time. When a new player joins, no matter what point the game is at, they get 30 health to start.
You take one turn per round. A round is complete when every member playing the game takes one turn, but turns do not have to go in order. You sacrifice your turn if you do not reply for a week.
Roleplay Aspect:
Roleplay is not necessary, but if you wish you may RP your actions after you post your turn information.
Winning:
You win when you eliminate all other armies and become Ruler of the Forest.
Although, who knows when new challenges will rise up against you?
Losing:
You lose if your health is depleted to zero, or if you give up your army to another.
Turn Setup:
When you take your turn, your post should look like this:
(Army Name)
(Your Current Health)
Army Members: (Example: 4 Squirrels, 2 Cats and 1 Wolf named George)
Turn: #_
Main Roll: _
(Action based off of roll, including any other rolls Example: Rolled a 3. A squirrel joined my army.)
Result: (These are the hard facts. Example: 3 health lost, 1 wolf lost, 1 squirrel joined)
Roleplay (Optional): (This is where you get to have fun. Example: In an unexpected attack from the Raiders of the North, we fought back valiantly but lost George today.)
I only just made this game, so think of this as a beta test. If anything is unfair or not fun, we'll just change the rules until we get a fun game as a result.
Thank you everyone that decides to play! Good luck!
My Turn:
Fairy Tail (I know, I'm so creative I just really felt like it)
Health: 30
Army Members: 1 Squirrel
Turn: #1 Round: #1
Main Roll: 1
No enemies to attack
Result: No change
Roleplay: The territory is peaceful for now, but danger is sensed over the horizon!
