The Inheritance cycle went so-forth. A young farmer named Eragon stumbled upon a strange blue stone in the Spine. Out of the stone, which was actually an egg, a female blue dragon named Saphira was born. Eragon and Saphira went on a journey to kill the Ra-zac that attacked their home, with the aid of a storyteller named Brom. They followed for many days, then Eragon had a vision that told him to save and elf in Gil'ead. Eragon was drugged, but managed to escape with the Elf. The elf's name was Arya. They took her to the resistance call the Varden. The Varden opposed the Empire. Afterwards, there was a battle where the Varden leader, Ajihad, died. Eragon was nearly killed by an evil creature called a Shade. Arya smashed a valuable Dwarven treasure to distract the Shade so Eragon could kill the Shade. Many things followed. Eragon discovered that a boy named Murtagh was his half-brother! Unfortunately, Galbatorix enslaved him with unescapable bonds. Eragon was troubled because the knowledge of his father was terrible. For his father was Morzan. Alas, Murtagh also took his weapon Zar'roc.
Morzan was an 'evil' Rider who aided Galbatorix in destroying the original Riders. Then Eragon discovered another elven rider named Oromis who was partnered with a gold dragon named Glaedr. Both were crippled. Oromis had an unknown reason, Glaedr was missing a leg. Later, Eragon learned his true father was Brom. Then Eragon seeked a weapon, for when Zar'roc was taken. When he was traveling with Brom, he met a werecat named Solembum that told him something rather strange. There was to be a weapon underneath a Menoa tree and to find the Rock of Kuthian and Vault of Souls through it. Eragon went to the Menoa tree, the Menoa tree had a soul for it used to be an elf. He asked it for the weapon. The tree said she had no weapon. Finally, they found there was no weapon, but weapon MATERIAL. Eragon asked the tree, and the tree gave it. Eragon and an elf named Rhunon made his new sword, Brisingr. Soon the Varden attacked a city named Feinster, while the elves attack Cenuon. Oromis was killed in Cenuon, and so was Glaedr's body.
